Hi @devmsaleh,
Thank you for your question about includeVariables support in the Orchestration Cluster API (unified REST API v2).
Current Status:
The Orchestration Cluster API v2 currently does not support the includeVariables parameter when searching for user tasks. This is indeed a known limitation compared to the Tasklist API v1, which allows you to include variables directly in the search response.
Roadmap Information:
Unfortunately, there is no explicit information available about a planned release date for adding includeVariables support to the Orchestration Cluster API v2. This gap has been acknowledged by the Camunda team and community.
Your Options:
- Continue using Tasklist API v1 for now, as it supports your mandatory
includeVariablesrequirement - Monitor the official roadmap at https://roadmap.camunda.com/ for updates
- Submit a feature request to help prioritize this functionality
Important Timeline Note:
Please be aware that Tasklist API v1 is deprecated in Camunda 8.8 and will be removed in Camunda 8.10, so having this feature in v2 will become increasingly important.
Recommendation:
I’d strongly encourage you to submit a feature request for this functionality if you haven’t already. You can do this at:
- GitHub: GitHub · Where software is built (for the Orchestration Cluster API)
- Roadmap: https://roadmap.camunda.com/ (for broader feature visibility)
When submitting, please include:
- Your specific use case for
includeVariables - How the current limitation impacts your workflow
- Any workarounds you’re currently using
This will help the product team understand the importance and priority of this feature.
