Camunda Commercial use

Hello there,

Given that Camunda is open source and that it is licensed under the Apache license, I just want to make sure that I can be using a software that I built on top of Camunda for commercial purposes without any legal hassles. Thank you.

Hello @maroun_ayle ,

this is perfectly ok as we use a Apache License. When using Camunda Platform for Enterprise Applications, you should definitely evaluate whether an Enterprise License would make sense.

Feel free to contact us if you are interested in an Enterprise License!

What @jonathan.lukas said is exactly right.
Although i would like to add a couple of things.

Camunda has a lot of different components and those components can have different licenses. So while indeed the Engine itself has a very permissive Apache license, bpmn.io which are the libaries used in the front end and the modeler have a modified MIT license with different stipulations for usage.

In general it’s really easy to use camunda for a commerical projects but you can only really be sure if you go through the license with someone qualified.
