Store a Identifier of process instance starter

Hello there and happy new year.

We want to store an identifier per process instance which stores the initiator of the instance.
The Identifier can be either a Username of a User or a name of an service / worker…

By now I tend to use a process instance variable and “misuse” them as a place for custom process instance headers.

Just wanna ask if someone has a better idea since I’m just starting to learn :smiley:

also in Camunda 7, a process instance variable was used to store the initiator.

I can recommend to do it like this.

If you require to separate between „business variables“ and „meta information variables“, you could separate them into namespaces like „meta:initiator“ or „business:invoiceId“.
