For windows:
Go to Control Panel ==> System and Security ==> System ==> Advanced System Properties ==> Environment Variables ==> User variables ==> New
Popup will open, then:
Key: JAVA_HOME
Value:C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_71 (Put your jdk path)
