BPMN Battle #3: Niall vs. Samantha!

Yesterday, I battled Camunda’s own, Senior Developer Advocate @Niall. Given three fun and interesting prompts, we designed BPMN models to solve each prompt. (Want to know who won? Check out the video here!) Camunda Developer Advocate @nathan.loding came up with some AMAZING prompts!

Now, it’s your turn! How would you model these prompts? What creative solutions can you come up with? Share your solutions below!

Prompt #1: It’s Time for School!
Model a process for getting kids to school on time in the morning, including breakfast and packing a lunch, and accounting for the kids not always listening or cooperating.

  1. Required Symbols: Boundary Error Event, Event-based Gateway, Pools/Lanes
  2. Prohibited Symbols: Parallel Gateway, Signal Events

Prompt #2: Searching for Bigfoot
Model a process for searching for and trying to positively identify a cryptid (Bigfoot, Loch Ness, etc.). Your process must utilize at least three different surveying/monitoring/recording tools/techniques.

  1. Required Symbols: Business Rule Task, Escalation Event
  2. Prohibited Symbols: Event-based Gateway

Prompt #3: The Great Camunda Bake Off
Model a process for running a bakery, including stocking ingredients, baking new delicacies, and taking customer orders.

  1. Required Symbols: Timer Event, Multi-Instance Marker
  2. Prohibited Symbols: Send/Receive Tasks, Parallel Gateway

Prompt #4: The Truth is Out There!
Model the craziest model you can make.

  1. Required Symbols: Extra points for most symbols used!
  2. Prohibited Symbols: none!
