Bug on version 7.16 upwards

Hello everyone,

We have been using Camunda Platform 7.15.1 in our project but when we tried to upgrade to Camunda 7.16 (and recently we’ve tried again with the new released version 7.18) an error started to occur in our processes. We are using the docker image tomcat versions. I’m gonna reproduce it here in a simpler test process:

When the process reaches a userTask and runs that create task listener, it tries to get the processBusinessKey from the execution but we get the following script error saying the execution is undefined:

Cannot instantiate process definition Process_01j1soq:3:44d7b5f7-4fd1-11ed-9b2a-9e4cbb81f86b: ENGINE-03051 There was an exception while invoking the TaskListener. Message: ‘Unable to evaluate script while executing activity ‘Activity_1xg2dbq’ in the process definition with id ‘Process_01j1soq:3:44d7b5f7-4fd1-11ed-9b2a-9e4cbb81f86b’:org.graalvm.polyglot.PolyglotException: TypeError: Cannot read property ‘processBusinessKey’ of undefined’

I’d like to ask you if this is a known error and if it will be addressed in a future version.

What version of Java are you using.

openjdk version “11.0.15” 2022-04-19
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 11.0.15+10-alpine-r0)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 11.0.15+10-alpine-r0, mixed mode)

We are using your tomcat docker images in our cluster.

I have a feeling this has something to do with the fact that from Camunda 7.15 onward we use a different scripting engine. You can find more details here.

Did you try with getters as in below

task.getExecution().getProcessBusinessKey();
