I have some questions that weren’t answered by the documentation in regards to Camunda Platform 8 SaaS plans. I saw that there are three packages to choose from depending on how many resources you need. Is there any documentation on how a SaaS clusters for each package is set up in regards to:
node count
partition count
replication factor
Can they individually be chosen or are they explicitly set in regards to the package?
It would be great if someone could shed some light on this for me.
Hi @itsmestefanjay - I don’t believe we have any documentation on the nodes, partitions, and replication factors for SaaS. Rather, we calculate and configure based on throughput needs (how many process instances, for instance). We have a simple cost calculator available here.
However, that’s largely for the Starter Plan. If you are looking at Enterprise pricing, there are volume discounts available, and the team will work with you to customize your SaaS plan to fit your needs.
Thanks for your reply. I’d like to understand the differences between self-managed and Saas options for a blog post i am preparing. If I set up the cluster myself I can influence the partition and node count, as well as the replication factor. But I understand, that for the Saas offer this is calculated individually for each enterprise customer based on needs. Is that correct?
That is correct: with self-managed you are responsible for managing the resources to achieve the performance and throughput you need, and with SaaS that management is handled by Camunda. Enterprise SaaS plans are tailored to your needs, so I’m sure it’s more than just “how many PIs do you need” … but I can’t speak directly to how that is priced or designed. I would recommend reaching out to the enterprise team for those details!
