Camunda 8 Self Managed Community Edition

Hi All,

I have a question regarding the usage of Tasklist, Operate, and Optimize with the Camunda 8 Community Edition.

The documentation mentions “Non-production usage of Tasklist, Operate, and Optimize” for the free version. Does this restriction apply solely to the web interfaces (portals) of these tools, or does it also extend to their APIs/Clients?

In other words, can we use the APIs/Clients of Tasklist, Operate, and Optimize in a production environment with the Community Edition, or are both the portals and APIs/Clients restricted to non-production use only?

Additionally, what specific restrictions should we be aware of when using the Community Edition in production environments?

Thanks

Hi - Just a community member here, so not an official answer from Camunda.

Elsewhere on the forum, your question has been asked and answered several times. In Camunda up to and including 8.5.x the Non-Production rules for Tasklist, Operate and Optimize apply to both the Web Portals and the APIs. Only the Zeebe engine can be used in a Source Available model. There is no “Community Edition” in Camunda 8.

Starting with Camunda 8.6, the Zeebe engine will also have the “License Required for Production Use” Important Licensing Changes to Camunda 8 Self-Managed
