CMMN in Camunda Modeler not Works Since 5.42.0

Hello everyone,

I am a Camunda Modeler user and I have other processes in CMMN but since version 5.42.0 it has stopped working and does not open any model in cmmn although I have the flag.json configured.

Have CMMN models been disabled or stopped being supported in camunda modeler?

Thank you very much and sorry if there is already a similar question on the forum.

Hi @lamorillas , Verify flags.json is in the right place for your OS (e.g. %APPDATA%\Camunda Modeler\resources\flags.json on Windows, ~/.config/Camunda Modeler/resources/flags.json on Linux, ~/Library/Application Support/Camunda Modeler/resources/flags.json on macOS).

  • CMMN is controlled via the “disable-cmmn” flag; by default this flag is true (meaning CMMN is disabled).
  • To enable CMMN in versions that still ship the CMMN editor, you must have a flags.json in the correct {USER_DATA}/resources directory
  • If the file is correct and CMMN diagrams still do not open in 5.42.0, assume that version effectively broke/removed CMMN modeling and roll back to an older Modeler release where you know CMMN still opens correctly. Community threads explicitly recommend using an older Modeler if you rely on CMMN.
  • Continue running your existing CMMN models on Camunda 7; the CMMN engine and model API are still present there, with some limitations, but they are not evolving
