Deleting active process instance or Compensation/Cancel event

With certain variables I have created a process instance. The user decided to rollback the created process instance and need to reintiate the process instance with updated process variables.

Let me know which would be best solution:

  1. Deleting the running process instance and re intitate the whole process

  2. Compensation event

  3. Cancel event
