Does Camunda support process mining/business intelligence?

Hi folks and merry christmas to everyone!

I would like to ask if Camunda supports process mining by some way.
Something like tracking event logs to discover what people do and then defining a process around those actions for example…

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Hi @steftriant
Merry Christmas!

We’ve implemented a really cool thing in optimize in which events can be mapped to help create processes.
Check out this blog post for more details.

Hi @Niall and thanks for your feedback!

Ok, I made this question in the context of a past survey made by me for open source BPM tools (including Camunda of course).
What I would like to know by sure is if the capability of process mining (or business intelligence) techniques are supported by some way by Camunda either in its community or in its enterprise edition.

Please let me know if it’s easy for you to give me a short answer. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks in advance,
Steve

The short answer is Yes - using Camunda Optimize with is EE.
It would also be possible for the community to do this, but i’m not sure if something out there exists.

Ok @Niall, thanks a lot for your feedback!

Best,
Steve

Camunda does NOT support process mining. We developed a process mining application on top of Camunda. There is also a paper about this and the software is open-source.

See “An Open-Source Integration of Process Mining Features into the Camunda Workflow Engine: Data Extraction and Challenges” [2009.06209] An Open-Source Integration of Process Mining Features into the Camunda Workflow Engine: Data Extraction and Challenges.

We discussed with Camunda to support extending Camunda with process mining a few months ago, but Camunda decided not to do this (yet).

Looks really interesting @Wil_van_der_Aalst - Who did you speak to at Camunda about that?
Do you have a link to the code repository?
