Can Camunda be used as a higher level E2E process modelling platfrom?
I was hoping to use camunda to model high level core business processes (e.g Hiring)
I need to be able to fragment high level processes down to the low level actionable process models. Higher level processes will not be executable models but rather diagrams with swim lanes categorizing processes to stakeholders.
I also am hoping to be able to link processes across the various fragmentation levels.
After using Camunda v8 & v7, I am starting to think that it may not be the best option for the above requirements. Does anyone have any resources which may assist me using Camunda for this purpose?

Alternatively can anyone recommend an alternative platform which may be better suited for these requirements.

Short answer first: I would recommend giving the SaaS Modeler a shot. (See also Cawemo )
Longer answer:
Yes, you can do drill-down process modeling in the standalone modeler, but it’s not particularly intuitive, since the “Call Activity” functions don’t allow you to link/open/drill-down into the detail (or fragment) processes from what I’ve seen. I have been doing it this way for quite a long time, and it does work… it just takes a bit of effort.
I have read that there’s a plug-in that can be added to the stand-alone modeler that enables drill-down modeling, but I haven’t had an opportunity to really test it out.

I have been taking a similar approach but it feels as though it is not really what the modeler is intended for. In Cawemo, with the link events, do you just add the intended linked event in the description?
Could you provide some links for what you have mentioned above? E.g the SaaS modeler (or is this a reference to Cawemo)? and maybe an example of what you have done…?
I haven’t used either the SaaS Modeler nor Cawemo.
I believe they are based on the same underlying technology
In both, in the model, there’s a link button for the “Call Activity” that allows you to open the called activity. This gives you the desired drill-down functionality.
