Global Process Search Across Projects in Camunda 8 Modeler

Hi everyone,
I’d like to propose an improvement to the search functionality in Camunda 8 Modeler.

Today, processes are organized within projects, which makes sense from a structuring perspective. However, this also creates a limitation: it’s not possible to search across all processes globally when they are located inside different projects.

I believe users should be able to search for all processes they have access to, regardless of which project the process belongs to. As long as the user has the correct permissions, the search should return matching processes across all projects.

This would be especially valuable for:

  • Organizations with many projects and shared modeling responsibilities

  • Reuse and discovery of existing processes

  • Faster navigation and improved productivity

  • Avoiding duplicate process definitions

A global search (with project context shown in the results) would significantly enhance usability without breaking the project-based access model.

Is this something others are also missing?
Interested to hear thoughts from both the community and the Camunda team.

Thanks!

A global search across projects in Camunda 8 Modeler would indeed be a major usability boost—helping teams quickly locate processes, avoid duplication, and streamline collaboration without undermining project-based permissions. It’s a practical enhancement that many organizations with large process landscapes would benefit from.
