Do you mean an external worker running as a Spring Boot application? Have you looked at: External Task Client Spring Boot Starter | docs.camunda.org and also: GitHub - camunda/camunda-bpm-examples at 7.17

Yes, i have worked on these two scenarios with http and they are working as expected.
I am facing the problem with secured https APIs while invoking from camunda modeler and i am not working with springboot-camunda process engine combination. My intention was to separate the camunda environment separately as a remote service.
I am stuck with the certificates of external rest APIs while consuming those APIs from Camunda Modeler. I hope you understand.

I’m not sure I understand what you mean by “consuming from Camunda Modeler”. Are you working on a process def inside the Modeler and deploying that process def to a Camunda server?

Yes, i have developed a model in camunda BPM Modeler and using service task in it to call the https API (url) which is running out side Camunda BPM runtime. After that, I want to deploy that Camunda BPM Model to Camunda BPM runtime.

OK, so you deploy your process def from the Modeler to a server and start a process instance which will the call a service using the http connector?
What is then failing? Do you see a stack trace in the Camunda server console / logs?

Your Java interface program (Service Task Worker) doesn’t know how to confirm that the remote host is who it says it is. This sometimes happens when the Java Keystore is empty, or the Keystore is not where your program expects it to be.

As GotnOGuts says - the Java runtime executing your call does not trust the certificate used by the service you are trying to call. It could be that the service is using a self signed certificate or a root certificate unknown by your Java runtime…

Its not self signed certificate and its a dev portal url available over the internet. I imported the certificate into camunda keystore using the password provided. I am trying to import the certificate into “cacerts” in jre/lib/security and its getting access is prohibited as i dont have admin access. I will try on my personal machine and see.

I tried on my personal machine and its working fine for https endpoints without even importing the certificates into camunda (keystore.p12) or jre (cacerts) but coming to my professional machine its not even working after importing certificates into keystore.p12 and failed to import into cacerts because of no admin rights.
I have seen similar on systems where the Internet access is restricted.
Sometimes the Certificate that is loaded on the HTTPS server only hold a reference to the signing path, rather than the whole signing path. If the worker system is not allowed to go to the internet to find all the certificates in the chain, then the chain is considered broken, and there is no way to trust the REST/HTTPS server.
I’m not sure that I can really provide much more help, since this is really an issue with how your HTTPS server and Worker are built, rather than an issue with Camunda.
