I am trying to use a Call Activity to another process in a different file.
Is that possible?
If yes can anyone explain in detail how, I am a little stuck.

So there is no visual “forwarding” only the ID in the properties.
So if someone ready the process she/he has to search for the linked ID?

But you also should remember that its not always so straight forward for which BPMN file it links to:
The Call Activity BPMN value can be a Expression, could be to a specific version or deployment.
