Self-Managed Require Form Input to Start

Hello there,

We have a self-managed Camunda 8 running in our AWS EKS (8.5.3-8.5.5). I would like to utilize the “Require Form Input To Start” feature. My understanding from the documentation is that “Public Forms” are for SaaS only, but documentation does not explicitly state whether or not a private form is still achievable for a self-managed version?

Certain sections of the documentations mention linking a form to the start event. However, using the Camunda Desktop Modeler (5.27.0) I do not see this as an option. Can I please get clarification please? Thank you.

Tak

I believe you are going through the link: Starting processes | Camunda 8 Docs

Starting a process through form is available only in Web Modeler, not through Desktop Modeler.

Thank you. So the Web Modeler being only available for Enterprise users (cloud or self-managed), my understanding is then that this is not available for non-Enterprise users? Any plans to bring this to Desktop Modeler and available for free users in the near future?

Hi @Takahiro_Watanabe,

Thank you for your request! We plan to bring the possibility of starting a process via a form to Desktop Modeler in the future, though there is no committed timeline for it (not in the coming 3 to 6 months).

I’ve added your request to our product backlog, so there is more evidence that this functionality is needed.
