Task Assignment - Substitude

Hi

has anyone already worked on a “substitude” rule for user task assignments? So given TaskA is assigned to UserA and UserA has a “substitude” UserB, when UserA is flagged as “not active” the task is automatically assigned to UserB?

Will the Task concepts “Assignee vs. Owner” help here? Or is this custom implementation from scratch?

Curious to hear your thoughts and approaches
