I already assigned a task to the user called Thulasidharan, and I logged in to the Thulasidharan account. There I need to claim the task. Why do I need to claim it here? Because I already assigned it to the person.
Can anyone please let me know why we need to claim the task again.

There is a difference between assigning and claiming a task.
The assignment of a task is normally done by a group (could also be specific users though). This was also called candidateGroup or candidateUsers in Camunda7 (don’t know if it’s still called that way).
Now one of the users, that is either directly assigned or via a group, can claim the task. This means that the user wants to work on the task and no other user will now be able to claim and complete the task.
Hope this makes the distinction between assignment and claiming a bit clearer.
